Before trees changed colors in the fall, all trees had green leaves. The father of all trees was a sequoia; because of how tall he was he showed age and wisdom that came with it. The father tree was consistent on keeping order. There was never much conflict among the trees. Not one tree ever judged, or ignored, or hated another tree. One day in early November he over heard the green leaved oaks talking about another oak. One oak said, “Her leaves are odd, irregular, and they fall off.” Another oak asked, “What’s wrong with her is she cursed?” they all agreed to ignore the oak tree that was different from them. After the father tree heard this he was furious with the other oaks. He changed them all too different colors ranging from red, yellow, and orange. The father tree said, “Acceptance is the key to friendship.” From then on and for years to come trees change from green, to yellow, red, and orange. In the fall the leaves fall off and change color to show that beauty comes in all forms. The cold weather reminds them of how cruel and cold they were to the oak. Forever the tree’s lived in harmony and acceptance.
